[곽윤섭 사진기자의 심사평] "제가 사진강의를 할 때 마지막 12번째 시간엔 늘 내용이 깊은 사진을 이야기합니다. 한 장의 사진으로 보여줄 수 있는 한계가 너무 자명하니 여러 장짜리를 구성해 보라는 뜻입니다. 그것을 포토스토리라고 하든 포토에세이라고 하든 혹은 테마작업이라고 하든 상관없습니다. 어차피 그런 형식이 중요한 것은 아닙니다.
키이노 님의 '기다림(5)'은 일단 한 장으로도 시선을 끌 수 있는 장점이 들어있습니다. 사진 더 보기를 눌러 나머지를 확인했더니 아니나 다를까 꾸준하게 테마작업을 해온 분이었습니다.
낱낱의 사진들이 의미가 없다는 말은 결코 아닙니다. 여러 장으로 묶었을 때 그 의미가 2~3배 이상 증폭됩니다. 한 장이었을 땐 미처 전달되지 못했을 메시지가 두 장, 세 장째를 클릭할 때 분명 해지는 것입니다. 세상에 새로운 사진은 없습니다. 그러나 이렇게 같은 테마로 묶어둔 여러 장의 작업은 분명히 새롭습니다. '기다림(1)'은 조금 진부했습니다. 그러나 '기다림(3)'은 한 장으로 봐도 좋고 애쓴 흔적이 보였습니다. 심사평을 읽으시는 분들께선 키이노 님의 나머지 사진들도 한 번씩 찾아가 보시기를 바랍니다. 도움이 될 것입니다.
테마를 해석하는 것은 사진가의 몫입니다. 기다림을 어떻게 풀어나갈까를 생각하는 것이 도움이 됩니다. 테마가 있는 작업은 결코 어려운 것이 아닙니다. 기다림은 여러분에게 어떤 의미로 받아들여집니까. 사람마다 모두 다른 의미로 다가올 것입니다."

It means that you should organize several pictures because the limitations that a single picture can show are too obvious. 'Waiting(5)' by Kiino has the advantage of attracting attention with just one picture. I clicked on 'See more pictures' and checked the rest As expected, he's been working on the theme constantly. That's not to say that individual photos are meaningless. When working with a photo series, its meaning is amplified by 2 to 3 times. A message that would not have been delivered when it was one becomes clear in two or three pictures. There are no new pictures in the world. But, These multiple pieces of work tied together under the same theme are definitely new. 'Waiting(1)' was a little cliche.
